Ecuador is ranked 55th in the Social Progress Index 2017

The Social Progress Index was presented yesterday by Deloitte in Quito. Risk Advisory Partner of the international firm Oswaldo Bravo (photo) indicated that 128 countries or 94% of the world’s population were evaluated this year, under the categories of Basic Needs, Welfare Bases, and Opportunities, each with different indicators.
In terms of Nutrition and Medical Assistance, Ecuador ranks 75th, three points ahead of the 2016 qualification. The country also ranked from position 66 to position 49 regarding housing.
The report also indicates that Ecuador has the second highest birth expectancy compared to countries with the same level of income per capita, ranking 29th.
Concerning Access to Information and Communications, the country fell from 66 to 85 in the ranking. These and other indicators place Ecuador in the tenth place in Latin America and 55th in the global scale.
The first in the region is Chile, followed by Costa Rica and Uruguay. Globally, Nordic countries like Denmark and Finland top the list with very high social progress. The last places are occupied by Afghanistan and the Central African Republic. (I)
