Ecuador participates in summit of non-aligned countries in Azerbaijan
Ecuadornews:
Ecuador participates in the summit of non-aligned countries taking place in Azerbaijan, where the slogan “Promoting international peace and security for sustainable development” will be analyzed, the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry informed today.
The head of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, Maria Fernanda Espinosa, began a four-day trip to that Asian country on April 3 to participate in the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which brings together 120 countries.
Shortly after landing in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, the Ecuadorian chancellor was received by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, with whom he addressed the situation of the oil market, given that the two countries are exporters of oil.
Azerbaijan also celebrates this year the centenary of the establishment, in 1918, of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan, the first secular and democratic republic in the Islamic world.
The NAM is 57 years old and in the call that will begin, security and peace will be analyzed as central issues, together with sustainable development.
The head of Ecuadorian diplomacy plans to defend in her speech in this forum the position of her country in favor of the “culture of peace and dialogue” and multilateralism.
It will also hold several meetings with its counterparts in Baku aimed at promoting the bilateral relationship. EFE (I)
