Ecuador registered an increase of 13.7% in remittances

Ecuador recorded an increase of 13.7% in remittances received in the fourth quarter of 2017 and also stands out as the largest issuer of remittances among the Andean countries, informed the General Secretariat of the Andean Community.
According to a statement from the organization based in Lima, remittances to the countries that make up the Andean Community in that period reached a total of $ 3.494 million.
The values are the highest for five years and represent an increase of 14.2% compared to the same period of 2016.
Remittances received by Colombia grew 20.2% and those of Bolivia and Peru also showed increases of 10.1%. % and 5.9%, respectively.
The main countries of origin of remittances in that period were the United States, Spain, Chile, Italy, Argentina, Japan, the United Kingdom and Mexico. (I)
