Ecuador resumed attempts to change the ISHR

Through their respective foreign ministers Ecuador, Bolivia and Venezuela carried out another attempt so that the 24 countries that are part of the American Convention on Human Rights (IACHR) accept the changes that drive the American System of Human Rights (ISHR). They hope to propose their changes at the second conference of states that will take place in Cochabamba (Bolivia).
This conference is a pre-Assembly meeting of Organization of American States (OAS) that would be held in Guatemala from June 4 to 6.
The Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino, leads the proposals of his country and seeks to enlist the support of other nations. Patino has visited four countries since last Thursday: Honduras, Suriname, El Salvador and Uruguay.
Regarding his actions and travels, Patino and the Foreign Ministry issued bulletins and tweets assuring that El Salvador agrees with the need for changes to the system and also on the work of the rapporteurs.
Ecuador intends to establish structural reforms, the implementation of precautionary measures, changing the current location of the IACHR headquarters and how to choose the members of the entity, they include funding and the category of “special” to the Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression, these are the main points that the Ecuadorian debate is looking for.
