After defeating Stanislas Wawrinka by 6-2, 6-4 in 71 minutes, Rafael Nadal was crowned champion of this tournament for the third time, tying Roger Federer. With this victory, the Spanish player win the 40th title of his career on clay.
Federer, who won in 2006, 2009 and 2012, had been the one to win this tournament three times prior to the Grand Slam in Rome and Roland Garros, where Nadal wants to arrive as the favorite number four.
Meanwhile, “Rafa” had won this title in 2005 and 2010.
