Ecuador to continue granting Assange asylum, says Moreno

Posted On 25 Sep 2017

Ecuadornews:

President Lenin Moreno justified the asylum to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who has been living in the Ecuadorian embassy in London for five years. “Ecuador has no death penalty, so we have the right to receive Mr. Assange,” Moreno said in an interview.

The head of state clarified that Assange would be protected “as long as we believe his life is in danger” but he has also been asked to refrain from commenting on Ecuadorian politics. (I)
