Ecuador, waiting for “extreme scenarios”

During an interview with pro-government and regional media, President Rafael Correa talked about the national economic situation: delays in the obligations of the central government with local governments, the sustained fall in oil prices and state revenues, the use of brand new provincial airports below the country´s capability, and politically speaking, his reflections on the tension among the Government and the retired military, which, as he believes, “endangers democracy.”
There has been a response for all this, although questions were missing. Before the critics for delays in payments to autonomous governments, Correa went on the script. He recalled that “GADs incomes have tripled” and “there have never been delays,” a term which by the way, is rejected by Mayor Jaime Nebot, who has accused him of “misappropriation” of funds.
On that, Correa said, “how can you retain what do not have? … It seems that (Nebot) is the only Ecuadorian who has not heard” about falling oil revenues. And he just say that. Because he was not consulted on not transferred taxes funds.
