Ecuador in day of prayer for Benedict output

Today, the Catholics of Ecuador are carrying out a day of prayer and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, convened by the Archdiocese of Guayaquil and the Diocese of San Jacinto of Yaguachi and Babahoyo, after the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, announced on February 11 and materialized today.

Father Romulo Aguilar, principal of Guayaquil’s Cathedral, revealed that the masses will be held in this church every hour from 7am, and in the afternoon the eucharistic sacrament is planned at 16:00, 17:00 and 18:00. Furthermore, in the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament on the inside of the Cathedral,  the worship will extend until  20:00.

The day of prayer, as it has been called, was convened for the Catholic faithful to invoke God, in all churches and provinces of the country,  for the resignation of the Supreme Pontiff to be conducted in peace, and in the election of his successor, the cardinals in conclave may be enlightened by the Holy Spirit, so that the new Holy Father guides Peter’s boat in the best way..
