This weekend, the Ecuadorian Government confirm they will re-engaged the services of SP Reseach and Studies firm, of Santiago Perez to carry out a program of public opinion polls.

The government announced that this was an “urgent”decision and the contract was sign for $65,000. The goal is to collect indicators of opinion on the political, social partners and the media, through surveys, to determine the degree of support from people in the current issues and it seeks to know how much the community knows about the actions of the government.

As provided in the contract, the work shall be performed in a period of ten months. The Chair expects for the delivery of a monthly report on the results of the polls.

In the last referendum, held on May 7, 2011, the firm SP Research and Studies published the results of exit polls, however, these did not coincide at all with the results given by the National Electoral Council (CNE).
