Ecuadorian Health Minister said: “We will assume SOLCA’s facilities if necessary”
The Health Minister, Margarita Guevara, stayed in Guayaquil to maintain a dialogue with the media, in order to explain the financial situation in which the State manages SOLCA’s affairs. She denied that the State was owing 130 million dollars, as it was claimed by SOLCA’s board, and she warned that if the organization is not able to function correctly, the Ministry will take over the responsibility of handling SOLCA’s facilities.
Daily “El Univeso” asked her if the government will use the Health Ministry as a proxy, in order to manage SOLCA’s hospitals. The Minister answered “Of course. Everything that is involved with the health of the Ecuadorians, is a collective right. And we are the guarantos of attending oncology patients”. (I)
