The tanker Cotopaxi, owned by the Ecuadorian Oil Fleet (Flopec) and with capacity of 66 138 tons of cargo was detained in Panama by court order between 7 and 10 February this year.
The oil transport called this arrest as a “seizure.”
Via email, Flopec reported that a Panamanian law firm sponsors a former worker of the transport company in a lawsuit against the Maritime Court of Panama, through which it seeks an indemnity of $ 600,000 for alleged dismissal.
According to Flopec, the former worker was not dismissed. He joined the company in December 1989 and on April 30, 2014, the Guayas Disability Evaluation Provincial Commission, determined he suffered from bilateral apical fibrosis and central bronchiectasis.
