“El flaco” Luis Alberto Spinetta Dies at 62
Argentine musician Luis Alberto Spinetta died today at age 62 after battling with lung cancer he was diagnosed in 2011.
“El flaco” (The skinny one) founded the bands ‘Almendra’ and ‘Pescado rabioso’ made his illness public on December 23 through the Twitter account of his son Dante:
“I know I have lung cancer since July. I’m being cared by my loving family, friends, and the best doctors we have in the country. Given the barrage of inaccurate information, I want to publicly clarify the conditions of my health. I feel good, and I am in the treatment towards a definitive cure. ”
The singer of “Muchacha ojos de papel” had to undergo surgery for a perforated bowel diverticula, so he was hospitalized for 25 days, including the day of his last birthday.
