El Universo Case: Court did not Rule on the Prosecutor’s Request

Francisco Morales, President of Guayas Court of Justice, did not comment yesterday on the request made by Guayas prosecutor, Antonio Gagliardo, who asked to file the sue against Judge Juan Paredes Fernandez.

The judge heard the arguments of the newspaper’s attorney, Joffre Campaña, and Assemblyman Cesar Montufar, who oppose to the closure of the inquiry.

It took Campaña an hour and a half to explain the reasons why, he said, the president of the provincial court should not admit to file the case and instead ask another prosecutor to continue the investigation. (FL)
