Emilio Palacio’s Article “No More Lies”, Will Be Published In Eight Countries
The opinion article that sentenced El Universo Newspaper to pay a restitution of $ 40 million will be published in eight countries. The article, written by former opinion editor Emilio Palacio condemned him and directors of the journal, brothers Carlos, Cesar and Nicolas Perez to three years in prison.
The publication of Palacio’s column, “No More Lies”, is an initiative of El Tiempo newspaper, the Colombian Association of Newspaper Editors and Media news (Andiarios). A total of 40 Colombian newspapers published the article today.
Other seven journals are also joining the Colombian initiative: The Group of Newspapers of America (GDA), La Nacion (Argentina), La Nación (Costa Rica), El Universal (Mexico), El Comercio (Peru), El Pais (Uruguay) and El Nacional (Venezuela). O’Globo (Brazil) and El Nuevo Dia (Puerto Rico) also plan to reproduce the column between tomorrow and Monday.
Palacio’s column will be accompanied by an introductory text that says: “Following recent events with journalist and El Universo newspaper in Ecuador, and in order that the public have a clear idea of what caused the reaction the Ecuadorian government, the American Newspaper Group (GDA) and the Colombian Association of Newspaper Editors and Media (Andiarios) published today the column by journalist Emilio Palacio.”
