Entrepreneurs and employees meet to discuss wage hike

Today, at 17:00, in Las Cámaras building, in Guayaquil, employers and workers will meet with government representatives, outside the framework of Conades, in order to check inflation and productivity figures, basic consumer goods, and other supplies that allow them to agree on a consensus proposal to increase the basic salary of 2015.

Luis Poveda, representative of the employers before the National Wages Council (Conades), indicated that the parties count on a projected inflation figure of 3.90% and a business productivity rate of 4.05%, as a basis to define the increase.

The workers, on the other hand, believe that this information is insufficient. Jaime Arciniega, representative of this group before the Conades, said that the so-called “equity bonus” must be taken into account, which refers to the return generated by private companies this year.

This sector, however, has not yet succeeded to define in what percentage this approach would result when setting the salary increase.
