EQ2 strikes continues and it awaits a new dialogue

EQ2 strike continues
After the first failed attempt to stop the strike of 2000 EQ2 mill workers in a meeting in the company (La Troncal, Canar) carried out yesterday at 12h30, no agreements were reached between the bosses and the workers.
During negotiations, National Police members served as mediators to prevent any incidents.
The secretary of the Workers of EQ2, Sandro Maldonado said that they want a pay increase, according to what is asked for in the collective agreement. They also asked to be paid the utilities owed to them from previous years.
The mill is one of the companies seized by the State of the Isaias brothers, former shareholders of the bankrupt bank Filanbanco. After the public sale process in September 2011, 70% of the shares of the mill passed to the Sugar Corporation of Ecuador. While the regime leader, Rafael Correa, offered 30% of the remaining shares to workers, but to date this particular decision hasn’t been carried out.
Today they have planned a second meeting at 16h00, so said the officer in charge of the factory police security, Wilmer Llerena.
