Equality of Rights for the First Born of the British Royalty
Prime Minister, David Cameron informed today that the sons and daughters of British monarchs will have the same rights for the throne as dictated this Friday by the changes in the laws of succession to the throne of the United Kingdom. The leaders of the 16 countries of Commonwealth that have the Queen as chief of state approved the changes made.
The constitutional changes would mean that a first born girl has a priority when it comes to succeeding the throne over her younger brother. This also means that the future British monarchs would be allowed to marry with a Catholic person.
These laws will also apply to the future children of Prince William and Katherine, Duchess of Cambridge. Cameron describes the agreement between the chiefs of the government of the 16 nations as a “historical moment.” (AV)
