“Escalation of insults, slander and threats” is rejected by Spain
The “escalation of insults, slander and threats” of Nicolás Maduro, president of Venezuela against the Spanish government, particularly against President Mariano Rajoy and former presidents Felipe González and José María Aznar, was rejected by the European country.
The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement in which it considers the statements of the Venezuelan government as “especially intolerable,” regarding the alleged sponsorship of terrorism from the country. These statements of the Venezuelan president “are particularly offensive to a country like Spain, that has suffered for many years” the consequences of terrorism.
José Manuel García-Margallo, foreign minister, reported that Antonio Pérez Hernández, Spanish ambassador in Caracas, has been recalled for consultations as a sign of disagreement with the statements of Maduro.
