Evaluation Process to Educational Institutions Intensifies in Ecuador
The evaluation of the educational institutions in the Ecuadorian highlands will start in five months. Yesterday, the authorities of the Ministry of Education reported, at a press conference, that 31.000 public and private schools will be evaluated.
“This system is not intended to punish but that to make schools take appropriate decisions in order to have an effective performance,” said Monica Franco, Deputy Minister of Education.
According to Franco, the evaluation is one of the three phases which will be applied to schools. First, the one called “Registry” is already underway, it consists of two sub phases: Learning and School management. The second and third, “Regulation” and “Accreditation”, respectively, will run from September.
The establishments on the coast will be evaluated in April 2013. The decision was disclosed just days after closing 14 universities of the 26 that belong to E category in the country due to their low quality standards. Ecuador has 71 universities nationwide. (FL)
