Evangelical pastor was arrested for hate crime
Yesterday, the police arrested Pastor Eduardo Mora Leon, representative of the Evangelical Church, while he led a March against idolatry, for disrupting the public order, and generating an uproar in the Olmedo avenue, between Malecon Simón Bolivar y Eloy Alfaro, sector of La Bahía in Guayaquil.
Before his listeners, Mora pointed out that the Catholic Church deceived its followers by teaching them to worship images, and argued that he was a “Sent One of God”. “The message that I have to give is that these images are not gods, and that the Catholic Church is not only deceiving Ecuador, but the whole world, because God is in heaven and in our hearts, he is spirit”, said Mora, while exhibiting prints of Saints and crucifixes.
During the march, Mora, who is also being investigated for hatred, for previously making similar critics, destroying images of Jesus Christ and the Pope Francisco.
Mora was arrested and the Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation process and issued a detention order this morning, for the crime of hate. Mora starred in religious clashes last March 29, when he was apprehended during the procession of Cristo del Consuelo; and on April 5 he participated in a brawl outside of the San Francisco church.
