Fabricio Correa could not visit Galo Lara
Fabricio Correa, elder brother of President Rafael Correa indicated that his intention of visiting Galo Lara, who is being held at the Center for Social Rehabilitation of Latacunga, was a “gesture of gratitude.”
Lara is currently serving a sentence of 10 years in prison as an accomplice of a triple murder of Quinsaloma (Los Ríos).
Fabricio Correa could not enter the prison, because he is not in the authorized list of the detainee. By contrast, Joffre Campaña, lawyer of the businessman and friend of Lara could visit him.
“This is not a political but a Christian charity act as the Catholic I am, at Christmas time (…) Unfortunately they did not let me go,” Correa added.
Campaña said that the former legislador still has marks on his body because of the detention operation and that his health is cracked.
“He told me several things I can not understand as a human being. They do not have access to newspapers, television, radio or a clock, which means he has a condition in which he loses total control of what happens on the outside … it is ainhuman and degrading,” he concluded after his visit.
