Facebook Co-Founder Creates Another Social Network
Chris Hughes, Facebook co-founder launched his expected network, Jumo, which was designed to allow users to find, follow, and support social causes.
The expected effect for Hughes is to bring together people interested in social change. He wants to accelerate the good deeds in the world.
Hughes’ inspiration for Jumo started after the earthquake in Haiti on January 12, because he sees “an incredible response from the internet community.”
On the homepage you can choose the topics of your interest with which you will have access and an updated record of all organizations or causes that you follow. “This social network will let know how the person is, what they love, and what is meaningful to them,” said Hughes.
After choosing your “Issues”, you can delve into more specific issues (such as educational reform, schools, youth at risk, etc.). Or classify “Projects” affiliated with this space and select those that you would like to continue. You can also sort the projects by location, finding which are closer to you.
“Our real mission is to make it as easy as possible for people to be able to find these organizations and then connect with them in a sustainable way,” says Hughes.
