FARC and Colombia propose subcommittee creation to analyze definitive ceasefire

Create a subcommittee to examine possible working conditions for a permanent ceasefire in the conflict was the proposal announced today by peace delegations of the Colombian government and the FARC.

Seven members of the Armed Forces and National Police, will be part of the group of ten people, explained the government delegation in a statement.

The creation of the subcommittee, however yet does not imply concrete negotiations on a final truce, specified government.

“We are not negotiating a cease-fire now,” said the government’s chief negotiator, Humberto de la Calle, in a speech at the close of the current cycle of dialogue. “The police force still acting on the entire national territory,” he added.

“The subcommittee is limited to prepare for possible future mechanisms that only would take effect at the time we reach a final agreement,” he said.
