The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC for its Spanish acronym) maintains its need that Simon Trinidad, imprisoned in the United States, be one of its negotiators in the peace process with the government of Juan Manuel Santos.

The reassurance of the guerrilla organization was broadcasted by the New News Agency Colombia (Anncol for its Spanish acronym), whose headquarters are in Stockholm. During the first days of September, in La Habana, FARC announced that Simon Trinidad a.k.a Juvenal Ovidio Ricardo Palmera, would be one of the negotiators in the peace dialogues scheduled to begin on October 15 in Oslo.

Trinidad, who studied in the University of Harvard, is considered one of the ideologues FARC, was extradited on 2004 to the United States, after kidnapping three Pentagon contractors. However its unclear as to how the inmate will play his role as a negotiator. AV
