Four days after of the crime was carried out (April 11), the prosecutor Victor Altamirano took several steps into the murder of journalist Fausto Valdiviezo Moscoso, among those is included in the first 008-2013 file folder where data were requested the victim to entities such as Social Security Institute (IESS), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Land Registry in Guayaquil and Samborondon, Ecuador Transit Commission (CTE), Civil Registry, Armed Forces and telephone operators.
Additionally it investigates bank accounts or movements, also whether or not he’s a taxpayer, assets (housing or vehicles), Valdiviezo affiliation data, as well as that of his relatives and even his spouse, which were required with the intention of having gaining clues leading to the authors, accomplices or accessories after the murder. The Center for Arms Control Joint Command of the Armed Forces, was investigated to see if the victim was allowed to carry firearms, which was negative.
According to Altamirano, it was the cell phone calls that were made between the night of 10 and 11 April, in the citadel Villa Club and La Atarazana, which led to the prosecution to find six people, five of them are now detained for alleged involvement in the crime.
A Forensic Department report revealed that between 21h03 and 22h00: 46 on April 11, there were 337 calls numbers in La Atarazana. About the same time (2h00:02 to 22:00:05) of the same day, there were 1,664 calls in Villa Club, where Fausto was the victim of an attack, the night before his death.
From number 0939609989 of the Claro operator, owned by Aida Johanna del Valle Tomalá, there were 19 calls between 09:28:40 and 23:13:32 on April 11. Four were to three of the defendants in the case: Ingrid Soraya León Bermúdez, Elena Jazmín Filian Quelal y José Enrique Roca Ladines, who deny their connection with the murder.
Valdiviezo’s cellphone was also reviewed to obtain any information. It was discovered that, between 14:18:07 and 22:15:51 the day of the crime, he made 13 phone calls to different numbers and received two. None was from the detained.
