Ecuadornews:
Fernando Larenas, the former editor-in-chief of Daily El Comercio, is the new general manager of the state-owned Daily El Telégrafo, replacing Orlando Perez. This morning Larenas maintained a meeting with journalists and with Andrés Michelena, who would be the new general manager of the Public Media Company.
Larenas is Chilean by birth but settled in Ecuador in the late 70’s fleeing the military dictatorship. He has worked as a television reporter and News Chief for Channel 8. He later worked as an international newspaper editor for Daily Hoy, and was a correspondent for the ANSA news agencies in Quito and Brazil, and the Associated Press (AP).
Always linked to Daily El Comercio, Larenas was general editor of the capital newspaper and later an editorial columnist until last week. (I)
