Flights Canceled in Buenos Aires due to Chilean Puyehue Volcano Ash

Posted On 07 Jun 2011

Several airlines today suspended flights to and from Buenos Aires because of the arrival in Argentina’s capital of the ash cloud produced by the Chilean volcano Puyehue. The volcano has been erupting since last Saturday.

The Andean cities of San Carlos de Bariloche and Villa La Angostura suffered extensive power outages as a result of the “water and ash rain”, which components caused short circuits in the central electrical system, municipal sources said to the state agency Telam.

Both cities, known for their beautiful Andean view and ski resorts, were covered by ash and stones.
