Following the dissolution of El Niño phenomenon, rice farmers resume the sowing in Guayas

Guayas rice farmers have already planted an 80% of the hectares that are annually destined to the most important food in the diet of Ecuadorians.
Some followers of El Niño phenomenon, such as Luis Arriaga, point out that the event is fading away in this part of the Pacific. This implies that the rainy season is beneficial for agriculture, especially for maize and bananas.
According to estimates by the National Corporation of Rice Farmers (Corpnoarroz) the tranquility of having a normal winter has allowed the transplantation of plants in hectares that were missing, Heitel Lozano, head of the union, told to daily Expreso.
