Former militaries are offended by statements of President Correa
Posted On 19 Jan 2015
Former officers of the Armed Forces, who are part of the Association of Generals and Admirals in passive service and of the National Confederation of Military, expressed on January 19 their indignation against the statements made by President Rafael Correa in his weekly address. They also supported the retired general Eduardo González for the disclosures he made in his book “Testimony of a commander” (Testimonio de un comandante, for its Spanish name), about the events of September 30, 2010 (30-S).Correa qualified as “retrograde and worthy of a cavemen” certain criteria made by the former military chief and other retired officers, whom he described as “old guard.” These statements, in the opinion of the former officers, General René Yandún and Colonel Alberto Molina, constitute a disrespect to the institution, to its managers and members, and those who dedicated part of their lives to the military service.
