Former Referee Byron Moreno Arrested for Drug Possession in the US

Former Ecuadorian Referee, Byron Moreno, has been arrested for drug possesion in a New York City airport.

Moreno, who left his career as a referee and worked as a sportscaster in radio and TV, had six kilos of heroin on his underwear, the news at Televistazo in Ecuavisa reported on Tuesday.

Moreno is remembered because of having been suspended from 20 matches and investigated by the Authorities of Ecuadorian Football and FIFA, after his performance of a match between Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito and Barcelona Sporting Club in 1999; and was also blamed by the Italian community in 2002 for conspiring to eliminate their team from the Korea-Japan World Cup.
