Formula One Williams team Announces Hirings
The Williams team of Formula One hired two key members for the technical group. Jason Somerville was appointed as a director of aerodynamics and the former member of McLaren, Mark Gillan will be the chief engineer of the engineering operations.
Williams have not earned a victory in F1 since 2004 and it’s far from being in the first places of the racing championship of this season. The Williams team has only 4 points out of 8 races. Mike Coughlan left the McLaren team after being implicated in a spying scandal back in 2007. The current technical director, Sam Michael informed his resignation immediately after the end of the season. Afterwards Wiliams said that Somerville would start working in August 15 and Gillan in October 1.
Frank Williams, the president and founder of the team, said that with the help of Mike Coughlan, Jason Somerville and Mark Gillan could create a strong team that will put them in the top of the race. (AV)
