“Epidemiological week 11 of 2022 marks a sustained downward trend in the number of deaths and hospitalization in Guayaquil of patients with COVID-19,” says the report released today by the cantonal Emergency Operations Committee (COE) and the Table Health Technician of the Buenos Aires City Council.
The occupancy of the intensive care unit (ICU) rooms is 8 patients, while 62 patients are hospitalized, says the report, which includes figures from the city’s public and private medical units.
In addition, it incorporates the work in the territory of the personnel of the Municipal Health Directorate, which is in charge of tracking COVID-19 cases in 24 sectors . This work allows obtaining real data on the behavior of the virus in the city.
THE CONCLUSIONS
- Epidemiological surveillance 11 shows a slight increase in COVID-19 cases, however, there is also a decrease in the severity of the virus. The weekly incidence is 1.74 per 10,000 inhabitants, that is, an increase of 15.24% compared to the previous week, which can still be attributed to the carnival holiday.
- Regarding deaths, the average for the epidemiological week was 292 deaths, of which only 3 were due to COVID-19 during the last 7 days.
The report from the cantonal COE coincides with the data on the incidence of the virus in the country, provided by the national COE and the Ministry of Health last week. Precisely, based on the downward indicators of the disease, the entities decided to authorize 100% capacity in all public service sites.
Regarding vaccination against the disease, the Municipality recalls that since December 6 it reopened the Mucho Lote center, Metrovía 25 de Julio, brigades were sent to rural parishes and it launched a childhood vaccination campaign. Currently, the Mucho Lot vaccination center continues to operate, having immunized 75,895 people from December to date.
