Four sectors had less labor demand in late 2015
Four sectors showed negative figures in labor demand in the last quarter of 2015. This was revealed by the latest survey of business opinion of the Central Bank of Ecuador (BCE for its Spanish acronym). Employment figures for the fourth quarter will be published today.
The document, with data until November and December projection, collects information from 983 companies in the industry, services, construction and trade sectors.
As part of the study, the representatives of the companies were asked if the payroll increased, was maintained or dropped that month and what is their forecast for the next month.
Historically, the last quarter of the year recorded best employment figures due to the revitalization of the economy. BCE figures show that until 2013 the demand for labor increased during that period in most areas.
By 2014 the figures began to vary and last year´s downward in labor demand was for all areas, due to an economic slowdown.
