Francisco renews commission of cardinals of Vatican’s bank
This morning, Pope Francis renewed for another five years the mandate of the commission of cardinals, created by Benedict XVI, to monitor the Institute for Works of Religion (IOR,) known as the Vatican Bank, after the scandals raised.
In February 2013, Benedict XVI had renewed the commission for five years, but today the Argentine Pope introduced internal changes, except for the president of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, Jean -Louis Tauran, who continue to serve on this body.
New members will be the Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin; the Spanish Santos Abril, archpriest of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore; and members of several Vatican congregations as the Archbishop of Vienna, Christoph Sch nborn, and from Torono, Christopher Thomas.
Those who are going to leave their office are Tarcisio Bertone, current chairman of the committee and former Secretary of State; Domenico Calcagno, president of the Administration of the Apostolic Patrimony of the Apostolic See (APSA,) and the Cardinal Odilo Pedro Scherer, Archbishop of So Paulo (Brazil.)
