Fundamedios denunces that Arcotel does not allow to observe the frequencies bid
Fundamedios alleged that the Regulatory Agency of Telecommunications (Arcotel) did not allow citizen observation during in the bid for radio and television frequencies. The organization filed a protective action for the alleged violation of the right to observe and exercise social control.
Arcotel did not provide the copies of the records of the candidates of the frequencies bid. The Agency argued that the data are personal.
After the negative answer of Arcotel of delivering public information, Fundamedios requested Estefania Celi, a collaborator, to be an observer to qualify the records.
Arcotel asked the Council for Citizen Participation to recognize the delegate. “In any legislation it is established that citizens must register with an institution to exercise their right to citizen participation and social control,” Fundamedios published on its website.
