One of the new initiatives to protect the environment, proposes the elimination of plastic bags in the Galapagos Islands. The entry to the archipelago of plastic bags with handles, in addition to cups and containers made of plastic, foam or other waste materials will be denied from next August 10.
the Galapagos National Park (GNP) noted that the entry of small transparent plastic bags and garbage bags will be allowed for a time, after which their entry will also be banned. Those who currently have bags can make use of them.
Regulations will be implemented by control authorities of the islands. At the moment, clean bags will go to blue cans, for recyclable materials, while dirty bags to black cans, for non-recyclable materials.
