The State Attorney General, Galo Chiriboga, confirmed this morning on his Twitter account, the arrest of former Assemblyman Galo Lara by units of the National Police of Panama in the province of Veraguas, at the request of Ecuador’s justice, according to Jose Nelson Brandao, Lara’s lawyer.

According to Panamanian media, the detention was carried out at a house on the beach in Santa Catalina, in the Panamanian province of Veraguas.

Brandao said to Panamanian media that his client was transferred to the Interpol headquarters, located in Ancon, in the capital, and that the life of his client is in danger, if the government of Panama proceeds with the extradition of Lara.

The arrest occurs in less than a month that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Panama reported, on May 19, they had revoked the territorial asylum, granted in October 2013.
