Giorgio Azín, a well-known host of the contests shows

Giorgio Azín Della Velpo became popular in the seventies as one of the pioneers of local TV. He hosted shows like Lluvia de Oro, Jueves Gigantes, and Sus Primeros Aplausos on Channel 4, now RTS.

Azín passed away yesterday at the age of 88 after being hospitalized due to lung complications in Guayaquil.

The father of former hopeful for vice presidency Annabella Azín was a columnist for the Ecuadorian magazine La Verdad.
