The three biggest companies of Internet, Google, Facebook and Twitter as well as Amazon and Wikipedia would ‘shutdown’ their websites on January 23. The event will be made as a protest against the United States a day before the Congress approves the SOPA bill (Stop Online Piracy Act) that seeks to promote sites with illegal contents.

Such bill has the intention of blocking, censoring and monitoring the Internet activity in the country. The House of Representatives of the United States introduced the bill proposed by Lamar Smith on October 26, 2011. Additionally those sites that ‘break the law’ will be black listed and won’t be able to have advertising.

The main critics could be faced in the investigations against sites like Google, Youtube, Facebook and others were the contents uploaded could be subjected to demands on behalf of the production companies. (AV)
