Government invests USD 450,000 for sustainable and deforestation-free production in the Amazon
With the aim of strengthening the strategies and actions that are being implemented against deforestation in the Amazon, the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Ecological Transition together with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) formalized the channeling of USD 450,000 of investment that will allow the execution of actions concrete and direct actions with indigenous peoples and nationalities, injecting financing with the intention of improving the quality of life of more than 14,000 inhabitants of the Shuar nationalities: Santiak, El Pangui, Sevilla Don Bosco and the Masek Saapapentsa Association.

The intention is to improve the quality of life of more than 14,000 inhabitants of the Shuar nationalities.
At the event that took place in Macas, province of Morona Santiago, Gustavo Manrique, Minister of the Environment, Water and Ecological Transition, indicated that “the Government is convinced that it is time to have greener production and development, and each Once international organizations facilitate access to these resources, they allow us to go further, promoting the conservation of forests and fostering sustainable and deforestation-free production in the Ecuadorian Amazon and thus build Ecuador for present and future generations.”
For his part, Juan Manuel Murgía, representative of the IDB, stated that “this is a great opportunity to work with Ecuador and promote sustainable development projects that contribute to the mitigation and adaptation of climate change.”
Dari Aguinda, president of the Napo Kichwa Women’s Association, thanked the Ministry for the opportunity to receive this incentive and stressed that her organization works with guadua cane, but they need support like this, from all public and private organizations, to that their projects materialize and thus support the women of their community.
