This was confirmed on August 21, the President of the Assembly, Gabriela Rivadeneira, who argued that it can not be that there are employees who are at the expense of improving their living conditions onto a profit sharing when it should be by a “decent wage” .
She opined that the radio spectrum “is a non-renewable resource” and as such “its exploitation should generate benefits for the country and not just for big business.”
For his part, the Minister of Labour Relations, Carlos Marx Carrasco, reported that on August 22 will present to the President Rafael Correa a report on the wage situation of this sector. He added that the Ministry has the legal authority, but commented that the issue should be discussed by employers and workers; and do not reach an agreement the Ministry may determine the wage. “The idea is to ensure workers a permanent income that include the contribution of Social Security,” he said.
