Government orders to broadcast a presidential speech at the same time the Vision 360 broadcasts
The National Communications Secretariat (SECOM), ordered the Ecuavisa channel to broadcast a half an hour presidential speech, at 22:30 today, the same schedule in which the investigative program Vision 360, hosted by journalist Tania Tinoco, is usually broadcast.
The imposition occured after Vision 360 promoted for a week its coverage “Lights, Camera, Splurge?” About the 9 years of audiovisual propaganda made by the Government and which was never presented.
The order has arrived on Saturday to Ecuavisa. The government´s video lasts 26 minutes and 38 seconds and is entitled “Ecuador: Republic of opportunities.” Allen Panchana, director of Vision 360, described the order as “an abuse,” arguing that it was released yesterday in the seized TV channel TC Television at a different time. Panchana stated that they are forced to broadcast the national speech to avoid prosecutions and sanctions.
