Government Reconsiders the Green Tax
Nathalie Cely, the Coordinating Minister of Production informed through her Facebook and Twitter account that the Green Taxes are being revised. This meant that the bags would be out of the tax payments until they find a more productive measure that foments recycling.
Cely also ratified to Teleamazonas the decision to cancel the “Green taxes” to the plastic bags. She also defended the cost of the plastic bottles saying that it should be considered as “callable deposit,” because the citizen that delivers the recycled bottles will receive compensation.
Until yesterday an income of 10 cents to each plastic and paper bag was applied only to which are intended to facilitate the transportation of any product purchased at stores.
The Finance Ministry informed last week that the tax reform project is on favor of the environment and the public health. The government plans to reduce the environmental contamination that some plastic bottles and bags generate by replacing them with recyclable materials. (AV)
