Government will provide $ 69,000 to Ecuador for the Olympic Games rider
Around $69,000 will be the budget granted by the Ecuadorian Government to prepare rider Ronald Zabala and his three horses for the Olympic Games, 2012.
Jose Francisco Cevallos, Minister of Sports, said that this money will pay for food, training and Zabala’s participation in the next Olympic Games, and showed himself optimistic about the possibility that the rider returns with a medal.
Zabala earned his ticket to the Olympics by winning a tournament in Buenos Aires and played between February 24 and 26. He said that his horses will rest for three weeks before his veterinary exams. Afterwards they will travel to the U.S. to participate in some competitions. By June, they expect to travel to Holland for adaptation and arrive in England by July.
Cevallos said the Government will award up to $ 75,000 per athlete registered in the Olympics.
