Greatest Treasure Ship was discovered in the Atlantic Ocean
U.S. Company Odysey Marine Exploration announced the finding of a British freighter called “SS Gairsoppa” which was shooting down by a Nazi submarine in 1941 in the Atlantic Ocean.
Currently, this discovery is considered the most precious treasure ever found in the seabed, with an average of half a million silver coins and gold, at $ 500 million.
According to Odysey, the wreck was located 4,700 meters deep and 480 km from the Irish coast. Research indicates that at the time of sinking the freighter was carrying 600,000 pounds worth items (its value in 1941) or about 200 tons of silver, including more than 90 tons of private property in the form of silver bullion.
According to an agreement reached between the British company and Odyssey regarding the rescue, the company will retain 80 percent of the value of all silver bullion recovered.
