Guayaquil Will Have a New City Museum
Guayaquil will have a new cultural centre called the Municipal Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
The idea for this art building was conceived since the current Municipal Museum did not have enough space for the 14,000 registered cultural properties, and more than half of these are not being displayed, pointed out the director of Culture and Municipal Civic promotion, Melvin Hoyos.
The new museum will be built in the streets Rocafuerte and Loja, near the Museum of Anthropology and Contemporary Art (MAAC), Zona Rosa, Cerro Santa Ana and Las Peñas Neighborhood. It will have about 280 square meters in each of its three floors where works will be exhibited.
It will have an auditorium for speeches and restoration projects. It may also exhibit the winning works of the October Saloon which is organized by the Municipal Museum and it will involve lectures on modern and contemporary art.
