Guillermo Lasso is the lesser evil, says Paco Moncayo

Posted On 08 Mar 2017
The former presidential hopeful for the National Agreement for Change, Paco Moncayo, said yesterday through Twitter that he will vote for Guillermo Lasso in the second round of elections, as the only way to get rid of the correism*.
“There is no other way to get rid of Correa than voting for Lasso. There is no more left! I’m not going to wash my hands saying ‘I will vote for no one,’ ” assured the retired general through his account @PacoMoncayo.
However, he said that Lasso represents the neoliberal model that “so much damage has caused, but today that is a lesser evil and it is necessary to recover the democracy.”
Moncayo said he will not campaign for the candidate of the Creando Oportunidades (CREO) movement, “but I will defend democracy, liberties, people, my Armed Forces, so battered.”

The former presidential candidate questioned the result he obtained in the first round of elections, on February 19. According to the National Electoral Council, he only obtained 6.7% of the votes. “Can you believe that this result is the real one? I did not have money to pay 30,000 people to take care of the votes.”
Moncayo indicated that all the actions of the correism are fraudulent and deceitful.

*Correism: Name given to the government of President Rafael Correa (2007-2017).
