After the lifting of sanctions on five banana exporters, both countries agreed to maintain a direct channel between health services.

Following the lifting of sanctions on five banana companies by the Russian Government, authorities from the health services agencies of Ecuador and Russia agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding.
The date for the signing of the memorandum has not yet been defined, according to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Phyto and Zoosanitary Regulation and Control Agency (Agrocalidad).
Authorities from the ministries of Agriculture, Foreign Affairs and Production, together with officials from Ecuador’s commercial office in Moscow, held a meeting with directors of the Russian Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Control Service, called Rosselkhoznadzor.
In addition to the signing of the memorandum, at this technical meeting the lifting of the restriction on the five banana exporters was ratified and it was agreed to maintain a direct channel between the health services of both countries.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ecuadorian authorities detailed to the Russian health agency the protocols and work plans that give guarantees to that country and other important destinations on Ecuadorian products sent abroad.
