Hearing of Febres Cordero Monument Solved with fists
A series of incidents occurred before and after the hearing for the action to protect the monument of the former Ecuadorian president Leon Febres Cordero in Las Peñas neighborhood.
The hostilities extended long after the hearing outside of the building of the Guayas Court. Government officials had to be escorted to the parking lot to avoid further assaults. The first altercations occurred when youngsters of the groups Diabluma and Juventud Revolucionaria PAIS started to protest against the monument.
Meanwhile sympathizers of the City Hall surrounded them, since they were a larger number, and started to scream at them, afterwards the sympathizers physically kicked them out of the hearing chamber. Police officers watched and used their shields, but did not stopped the aggressions. (AV)
