Guayaquil flooded

The heavy rains that endured Guayaquil from 17:30 on Saturday until early Sunday morning killed two people, to this was added the flooding of more than 15 sectors, the collapse of a bridge in New Prosperina and eleven houses also collapsed.

Among the victims is Edwin Villavicencio Lazo, 18, who drowned last Saturday night in Estero Salado, in the cooperative Esmeralda Libre in Las Malvinas.

The second victim was Arturo Anselmo Sigcha Sisalima, 49, who was electrocuted last Saturday night, in a warehouse of a company, in the 10.5 km road to Daule.

One of the sectors most affected was the area of Mount Sinai. On Saturday around 18h30, the streets seemed like rivers. There were five wood houses, located on a ditch, which collapsed two hours later. Other sectors affected were Chibon, Sergio Toral III, Mucho Lote, San Eduardo hill, among others.

The Church of the Latter-day Saints offered shelter in the temple, five families joined the wooden chairs from the church to form beds and sleep through the night. Other residents donated clothes.
